Miami's Best Kept Secret

There's a new pop up in town. Not this town... but rather in Miami! My friend Roy is heading up this great project to turn this old hotel into a hip cool hostel. In the meantime Roy and a few cool boys have created The Broken Shaker. They have transformed the backyard into this very cool lounge playground.

The drinks were amazing and their small makeshift kitchen is pumping out great tapas. I spent the entire evening sipping this tequila cocktail infused with seaweed. It was delicious and refreshing. Roy took me on a tour of the kitchen to meet the crew. It's a small operation but by far the best spot in Miami if you want to avoid the house music and cheesiness of South Beach. The music was great and the crowd was a nice mix of international beautiful people, with the odd few random elderly locals. It was nice. We stayed for hours speaking a mix of spanish, english and even italian.

The hotel itself is quite interesting, kitsch and cool. It has great potential. There's an abandoned house in the back and a very cool 60's style swimming pool. You can explore around the grounds and tuck away in quiet corners of the garden. I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with it. In the meantime the Broken Shaker is great so try to catch it while it's there. It will only be here for the next 4 months.
