Ippudo has added a new special ramen to their menu for spring! It's chicken and pork-based and has a wonderful kick to it! I think Chef Hirata (although he won't tell me) is using the same chili power that he sprinkles on the goma-kyuri (cucumber) salad because it has a strong red colour and a kind of surface spiciness that doesn't linger. The cilantro on top gives it a really unique flavour! I've never tasted this flavour in ramen before, it almost has a mexican twist. It comes with a side of lime, which you are meant to squeeze in once you are half way finished in order to cut the spice. But I loved the added lime taste so much that I broke the rule and added it almost right away! I think it's a nice addition to the menu and really appropriate for the recent weather change. And it went especially well with the yuzu sake (also recently added to the menu) which he offered to us to try! Since I am anything but ashamed to say that I worship Ippudo and their amazing ramen, I am all to happy to see them written up in the times this month. Yah Ippudo!
